IRRIGATION TRAINING AND FIELD MANAGER-DLC RESOURCES

Pay Range: $55,000-$70,000 per year

Summary of Job:

DLC’s industry leading Water Management team is looking to add an Irrigation Training Field Manager. In this position you will be leading a team of irrigation trainers that oversee the management of 1.6 Billion gallons annually. This is a job that has real impact and that strives to keep top notch looking landscapes with the end goal of Using Only Enough Water for Healthy Plants and Turf.

Essential Functions:

• Use your experience and expertise to help improve our irrigation team by taking charge of the irrigation training program, organizing and implementing trainings, and leading a team of irrigation trainers.

• Manages employees and evaluates performance of the Water Department team.

• Deploy your irrigation expertise in the field assessing system functionality, designing, bidding, and overseeing large scale repair projects, reviewing and improving irrigation programming and collecting and preserving irrigation system data.

• Mentor managers on the unique aspects of their system capacity, controllers, site conditions, team irrigation knowledge and how to get the best-looking results given their specific location, plant material and conditions.

• Serve as a “go-to” to support the team in keeping our clients’ landscape looking top-notch through all the seasons, conditions and when unique challenges arise.

Job Skills/Requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience in irrigation system maintenance, repair or design

• 2+ years supervisory experience

• Knowledgeable and proficient in basic horticultural methods and procedures

• Thorough knowledge of design, installation and management of commercial irrigation systems and have the ability to apply the theory and use of ET based Central Irrigation Systems; understand both hydraulic and electrical theory; have a good working knowledge of soil types and plant water use requirements; and be able to troubleshoot, make repairs, and perform installations to large irrigation systems and ET based Central Control systems

• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) with the ability to quantify and bid irrigation renovation projects. Ability to interface and build relationships with clients and apply tactfulness when assessing irrigators

• Irrigation Association certifications are desirable but not required

• Great communication skills (Writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills)

• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing (The ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus)

• Arizona Driver License and clean MVR record

• Ability to multitask and remain organized while working on multiple projects

• Ability to work scheduled shifts and maintain a great attendance record

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

• Able to lift 50 lbs (Equipment, tools, and supplies may need to be lifted, carried and/or pushed)

• Able to walk/stand for long periods of time

This position does require time spent outside in the nursery year-round.

General Statement:                  

The Irrigation and Lawn Technician in this position works with the Manager of Horticulture and Senior Irrigation Technician in the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems. Lawn installation and maintenance are also a primary function of this position.

Essential Duties:                     

  • 1.     Provide quality guest service to both internal and external guests by maintaining a WILD (friendly, helpful, positive and professional) working attitude and appearance.
  • 2.     Perform all aspects of turf maintenance including mowing, fertilizing, seeding and aerating.
  • 3.     Perform routine preventive maintenance of irrigation systems, filters, fertilizer injectors, valves, sprinklers and pipes.
  • 4.     Assist with maintaining accurate records of monthly meter readings, irrigation maps and irrigation controller scheduling.
  • 5.     Perform minor troubleshooting and repair on electrical components such as pumps and sprinklers control units up to 115v.
  • 6.     Operate  mowers, trencher, aerator and other necessary equipment.
  • 7.     Operate programs and maintain computerized irrigation systems.

The Nursery Operations Manager/Head Propagator is responsible for the overall growing operations at Arid Solutions Nursery, located in Phoenix Arizona. The Operations Manager will be overseeing the nursery operations and ensuring plant production is optimized to assure healthy and hardy plants are ready and available for our retail and wholesale operations as necessary. The NOM should possess a passion and understanding of plants, a “green thumb,” and team leadership skills. This position works under the direction of the General Manager GM to assure all plant production is done in accordance with ASN standards and guidelines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all plant propagation and production operations.
  • Managing a diverse group of employees.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory levels by ensuring production management and growing/propagation responsibilities are completed accurately and in a timely fashion, and by following proper processes to ensure production is maximized and cost efficient.
  • Leading and enforcing all safety guidelines and directives.
