ANA proudly presents SHADE 2010, its fifth annual one-day educational seminar on Friday, August 13, 2010 at The Renaissance Glendale in Glendale, Arizona by the Cardinal Stadium, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

 SHADE is designed for green industry professionals, landscape architects, designers, arborists, small business owners and managers, property managers, wholesaler and nursery employees.  Attendees will profit from this educational event, which features five tracks this year containing five sessions each and an additional sixth session in the Pest Management and Plant Health track, all presented by industry experts. The Design Track has been endorsed by the Arizona Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

The five tracks are: Business, sponsored by Ball Horticulture and featuring Retaining Key Employees in Tough Economic Times with Joan Jordan, Sanford Rose Associates and Regulatory Issues Facing Small Business with Julie Pace, Ballard Spahr; Design, sponsored by Evergreen Turf and endorsed by ASLA, includes Recycled Materials in Residential Landscaping with Janet Rademacher, Mountain States Wholesale Nursery and Phoenix and Tucson Vision 20/20 in Forestry with Richard Adkins, City of Phoenix and Irene Ogata, City of Tucson; Trees & Plants, featuring Horticultural Mysteries with Mary Irish, Garden Author and 2010 New Varieties of Agaves with Chad Davis, Desert Botanical Garden; Pest Management & Plant Health, featuring Sea Shore Paspalum for Turf:  What’s the Story? with David Kopec, Ph.D., University of Arizona and The Pesticide Path From Cradle to Grave and Regulatory and New Pest Status Update with Vince Aguiar, Dow Agrosciences and John Caravetta, Arizona Department of Agriculture; and Irrigation, sponsored by CAP, featuring 5 Ways to Increase Irrigation Efficiency with Jeffery Knight, Ewing Irrigation and Evaluating Irrigation Systems with Bryan Condray, DLC Resources.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) have been applied for from ADA, GCSAA, IA, ASLA, OPM, and WCISA.  A complete set of six CEU’s will be offered through the Pest Management and Plant Health track for those who need to update their certification.  A complete list of session descriptions and presenters will be available next month.  

The cost for early registration (by July 31) is $88 per person and includes lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments, and an hors d’oeuvres reception.
